The Senior Estimator supports the production planning department by identifying means and methods of production and actual labour content for specific operations enabling the compilation of specific plans/schedules for production and actual labour allocation for route sheet activities.
You will support the company's sales team by compiling both labour and material/service content of enquiry details received allowing the formalizing of quotes and tender submissions.
Create and maintain standard pricing tools with market related pricing in order to improve enquiry receipt to quote responsiveness.
Responsible for providing assistance on projects by working with Sales and Engineering Productions in order to provide dependable cost estimates and project evaluations.
They are fully committed to working within the formally adopted Quality Assurance and Health, Safety and Environmental procedures.
Actively assess the skill base of departmental personnel and are responsible for training and development requirements.
Contribute to the Company vision of creating fast, dependable and creative solutions for its customers.
Job Responsibilities
Ensure that the department operates in accordance to the company's Quality Assurance and Health, Safety and Environmental procedures.
Enquiry and contract review, estimation and costing, planning for production.
Raise actions required by other interfacing and affecting departmental requirements and commitments.
Receive enquiries from Sales as arising and acknowledge receipt thereof.
Process customer’s enquiries, which normally arrive in the form of detailed component and fabrication assembly drawings with bills of materials. Coordinate with Sales team to convert into quotations following the company costing systems to generate a total project cost.
Propose submission date and update General Manager with time scale or bid extension requirement.
Allocating the enquiry to the respective team member.
Prioritizing the enquiry as per the dead line with team member and submitting the quotation.
Liaise with procurement/w-shop to assess for material pricing /availability and labour.
Review material and labour requirements, to determine whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components.
Produce costing sheet for every enquiry and prepare quote to send through General Manager.
Maintain and update Sales Force.
Select and maintain relations with suitable subcontractors as required.
Interpret customer drawings and specifications and liaise with the customer for any required clarifications.
Revise and update timeline for projects / repairs / fabrications based on standing enquiries / orders and priorities.
Clarify the workscope with the customers and interpret the technical requirements in order to provide estimates/bids to the sales team/clients in the oil and gas sector.
Products covered include rotating equipment, valves and oil field API components.
Participate in Contract review processes.
Site visits / meeting for tender purpose.
Management of the Estimation team members, carries responsibility for their target setting, completion of their assessments, ensures holiday cover etc.
Ensure compliance with company’s documented Quality and HSE System’s.
All other duties as assigned.
Required Skills / Knowledge
Dynamic leadership styles, prepared to "push the boundaries" when necessary ; nurturing/mentoring style; keen to share knowledge and experience.
Ability to understand blue prints and estimate labour, raw material, tooling, paint or outside operations, packaging and any other cost associated with the range of API parts manufacturing.
Highly organised and efficient.
A team player, and the ability to take responsibility for own work environment and that of others.
Commitment to Quality Management
Good knowledge of Standards and Recommended practices of API / ASME / ANSI.
Sound understanding of the engineering workflow for a project, and management of priorities
Excellent verbal and written English skills
Experience
Minimum 8 years’ experience in the production of all types of estimates with a focus on API6A, 16A, 16C, 5CT, 7-1 and BOP's
Substantial estimating experience preferably in a machine shop production environment.
Supervisory experience
Education Requirements
Bachelor's Degree Engineering (Diploma)
Physical Requirements
Light physical effort or significant manual dexterity.
Primary functions require sufficient physical ability to work in an office and workshop setting and operate relevant equipment.
Walking, sitting and standing for prolonged period of time
