The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity to join Trowers & Hamlins' growing banking and finance practice in Muscat, Oman.

We are market leaders in Islamic finance and the firm has been ranked in the top tier by numerous legal directories for almost a decade in the Middle East. The firm has also acted on numerous domestic and international (Reg S) bond and Sukuk issuances including several debut issues in the Middle East.

We are looking for an experienced associate, with four years' plus experience of banking, general corporate and capital markets, to work on a variety of matters with a primary focus on transactional banking, Islamic finance, corporate reorganisations, restructurings, regulatory advice and capital markets transactions representing banks, financial institutions, alternative lenders, issuers and corporates.

Experience of Oman banking, general corporate and commercial advisory and capital markets work is a significant advantage.

What you'll be doing

• Dealing with a range of banking and finance and capital markets matters of varying sizes and complexity
• Managing due diligence processes and coordinating multidisciplinary teams
• Working closely with the corporate team to provide general corporate and companies law advice related to banking and capital markets matters
• Initiating, building and maintaining effective client relationships
• Pro-active involvement in marketing initiatives
• Willingness to work across a variety of banking and capital markets specialisms

What you'll need

The firm has a Career Development Framework which sets out the competencies we expect of those at this grade. In particular for this role we require:

• 4 years'+ post qualification experience
• Ideally someone who is UK trained and qualified or has gained experience within the UK.
• Proven ability to take on responsibility and manage files
• Flexibility, positivity and an ability to work effectively in a close-knit office
• Have an interest in, and an aptitude for, developing the firm’s business and a willingness to assist in the development of client relationships, through meetings, presentations, producing know-how and other business development initiatives.
• A strong transactional track record. Ideally, you will have experience of leading on transactions independently and the capacity to work with autonomy as well as part of a team.
• Experience in LMA based syndicated and bilateral lending transactions, secured and unsecured facilities and familiarity with priorities and intercreditor arrangements;
• Experience in providing legal and regulatory advice particularly to financial institutions; and
• Demonstrable interest in Islamic finance and the sectors in which we operate in the Middle East.

Department Profile
The Finance Division reports to the Chief Financial Officer and consists of some 3,000 employees worldwide. Finance protects the Morgan Stanley franchise by serving as guardian of the Firm's books and records, and by contributing to firmwide risk management and risk reduction. This division maintains relationships with Morgan Stanley's various industry and government regulators, and also serves as the conduit of financial information to the outside investment community. Finance plays a critical role as an advisor to Morgan Stanley's various businesses and its seior management team.

The Financial Control Group (FCG) is responsible for overseeing the accounting and financial and regulatory reporting for the Firm. FCG prepares external financial reports for public filings and regulators. For internal reporting FCG, along with Financial Planning and Analysis (FPA), summarizes, plans and forecasts the organization's financial position, including income statements, balance sheets, and analyses of future revenues, expenses and earnings. FCG is comprised of Business Unit Controllers, Infrastructure Controllers, Accounting, Regulatory and Reporting groups, and Valuation Control.

Team Profile
Dubai Controllers are part of the MENA Finance team which has controllers based across Dubai and Riyadh including the MENA Head of Finance. The MENA Finance team has a wide range of responsibilities covering legal entity control, regulatory and tax reporting, providing advisory services and management reporting to business units and Firm Management.

What will you be doing?
This is an analytical and detail-oriented review role in the Legal Entity Control (LEC) team. The individual will work on all aspects of regulatory and tax reporting and ensure that the organisation acts in compliance with internal policies, external rules and regulations in the UAE and Qatar.

> Perform month-end legal entity and tax reporting deliverables. This will include reconciliation, analytical review and preparation of management packs to support regulatory returns;
> Perform monthly due diligence to ensure integrity of financial information:

• Preparation of month end bookings such as accruals and prepayments;
• Booking and validating expense allocations, management recharges and transfer pricing;
• Preparation of month end reconciliations and sign off in Cadency for Balance Sheet, Net Revenues and Expenses.

> Preparation of:

• Monthly/quarterly/annual regulatory and tax returns;
• Annual financial statements for legal entity in accordance with IFRS;
• Liaise with external auditors pursuant to the timely completion of statutory audit;
• Liaise with other internal groups including MENA COO, local infrastructure teams, Ops, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Fixed Assets, Product Controllers and Tax;
• Support firmwide Legal Entity initiatives and any ad-hoc/regular regional management reporting requirements.

> Preparation of:

• Monthly/quarterly/annual regulatory and tax returns;
• Annual financial statements for legal entity in accordance with IFRS;
• Liaise with external auditors pursuant to the timely completion of statutory audit;
• Liaise with other internal groups including MENA COO, local infrastructure teams, Ops, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Fixed Assets, Product Controllers and Tax;
• Support firmwide Legal Entity initiatives and any ad-hoc/regular regional management reporting requirements.

What we’re looking for:

> Graduate from Business school, Engineering school or University Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline;
> Good accounting/financial control, data-oriented, and problem-solving skills;
> A basic understanding of the following areas would be an advantage: month end close, expense management, transfer pricing, cost allocations and financial regulatory reporting;
> Ability and willingness to work with virtual teams across varying regions towards the achievement of common goals;
> Aptitude for working in a swiftly changing, dynamic environment;
> Strong attention to detail;
> Excellent communication skills;
> Self-motivated personality with high standards for quality of work and accuracy;
> Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).

At Lendo, we're a fast-growing FinTech company reshaping SME financing in Saudi Arabia. Our digital lending platform provides fast, transparent, and secure access to capital - helping businesses thrive and fueling economic growth.

As we continue to scale, we're looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Legal Officer to join our growing legal team. In this role, you'll support the company across a range of legal matters, including contract reviews, compliance monitoring, and regulatory filings. You'll collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure Lendo's operations remain compliant and protected. This is a great opportunity to grow your legal career in-house and make an impact in a high-growth FinTech environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Reviewing contracts and legal documents
• Assisting in ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations
• Supporting the legal department in day-to-day operations
• Providing legal advice when required

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Law
• 1 year of relevant Law experience
• A solid understanding of Saudi Labor and Commercial Laws are preferred
