Job Description

Scope of Position:  Supervise a solid team by driving accounting operations within the company, such as control invoices, banking statements. Play an active role in implementing AP system within Accounting team and branches.

 

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:        

 

Operations / Finance:

                                   

  • Audit proof of cash and fixed asset reconciliation
  • Contribute actively to Profit and Loss statement (PnL) preparation with the Finance Controller for regional reporting submission
  • Prepare all documentation as required for external and internal audits
  • File tax returns of Withholding Tax timely to authorities on monthly basis and work with the Finance Controller and experts on any tax issues
  • Deal with any risk areas identified for internal control
  • Assist as back-up to credit controller duties
  • Control payroll and processing
  • Book Intercompany invoices
  • Analyze branch expenses (map) and review provisions before PnL release
  • Prepare and analyze bank and vendor/Service providers reconciliations
  • Contribute actively to Profit and Loss statement (PnL) preparation with the Finance Controller for regional reporting submission
  • Preparing the report for VAT filing/declaration and work with Finance Controller on some other tax duties

 

 

People:

 

  • Allocate workloads within team to ensure smooth accounting operations during staff absence.
  • Ensure team meets company standards of 52 hours training per year per employee.
  • Ensure that the new hires complete company’s mandatory training within the first 6 months.

 

Support the manager where needed:

  • Participate to staff appraisals, and at a minimum once per year per employee.
  • Ensure all staff and positions have job descriptions, clear expectations and are working with structured development plans.
  • Contribute to the effective monthly department meetings with team.
  • Review department goals and business plan periodically with team to ensure buy-in and accountability.

 

Systems:

  • Be open to implementing new system changes and enhancements into the department (AP system, net cash)
  • Be involved and suggest system/process improvements
  • Set the tone of this environment within your department
  • Play an active role on projects that improve productivity level per desk
  • Assist the Finance Controller with changes impacted by law (procedures and policies)

Qualifications

  • Graduate or Post Graduate in Commerce.
  • 5 years of industry specific qualification (country specific)
  • Proven supervisory attitude.
  • Strong accounting knowledge
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including proven abilities to listen, comprehend, effectively communicate clearly and concisely to obtain positive results.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to details.
  • Good computer skills (Excel, Word).
