Job Description
1. To act always within the scope of professional practice and maintain professional standards of behaviour and attitude. 2. To promote the development of junior staff by affording them learning opportunities and developing and supporting their professional and personal development plans. 3. Identify, plan, implement and evaluate developmental and mandatory training and ensure that all training is up to date. 4. To assist with the formulation and review of policies and procedures to ensure they are evidence based and reflect current standards of practice. 5. To ensure that Starcare policies and procedures are adhered to and clarified to all staff as necessary. 6. To maintain updated knowledge in her field and use this knowledge in the development of others in the department. 7. Encourages evidence based, innovative practice in the delivery of care and supports others in the implementation of changes identified to improve care. 1. To participate in the monitoring of practice through audits and assists in the formulation and implementation of action plans resulting from audits. 2. To participate in the formulation of scheduling duties and staff allocations to ensure an appropriate staff pattern and to assist in the departmental staffing needs review. 3. To provide leadership and guidance for junior staff and acts as a resource during staff development training. 4. To maintain safe systems of practice, carry out risk assessments and implement procedures designed to promote safe systems of practice. 5. To ensure that all equipment and surgical instruments are maintained in accordance with manufacturer instructions, taken out of service when faulty and promptly repaired.
Essential Skills: Supervises and coordinates nursing activities in the unit: • Assigns duties and coordinates nursing service. • Evaluates nursing activities to ensure safe patient care, staff relations, and efficiency of service. • Observes nursing care and communicate with patients waiting in OPD to ensure that nursing care / customer cares and proper communication is carried out, and treatment in accordance with Starcare guidelines. • Inspects OPD rooms for cleanliness and comfort. • Orders, or directs indenting of drugs, consumables and equipment. • Coordinate and advices nursing staff on Starcare insurances policies, informing patients, scheduling of appointments, planning of OT procedures. • Investigates and resolves complaints or refers unusual problems to MD / COO • Participates in orientation and training of personnel. • Besides managing the personnel under her supervision, her activities include staff education, competency testing and scheduling duties and clinic on the floor activi
Desired Skills:
1. Maintain appropriate stock levels and ensure that overstocking is avoided 2. Attend Clinical Nurses meetings and provide feedback to the members of the team. 3. Have monthly unit meetings. 4. Maintain the Quality Assurance system to ensure that departmental obligations are discharge from time to time. 5. Contributes to investigations of complaints and incidents and drafts responses as required. All statement requests to be submitted in a timely manner. 6.
