We need a Project Engineer / Site Engineer, Kenya
Job description
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Project / Site Engineer to represent the company on-site and ensure quality, cost control, and structural compliance across all construction activities.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day construction activities executed by subcontractors
- Ensure materials usage per square foot is as per approved specifications and BOQs
- Monitor structural integrity, construction methods, and workmanship quality
- Verify compliance with approved structural drawings, designs, and safety standards
- Conduct regular site inspections and quality checks
- Coordinate with subcontractors, consultants, and suppliers
- Track material consumption, wastage, and site productivity
- Ensure adherence to project timelines, budgets, and milestones
- Prepare daily/weekly site reports and progress updates for management
- Ensure compliance with local building codes and regulations in Kenya
- Act as the companys technical representative on site
Desired profile of the candidate
- Hands-on civil engineer with strong site execution experience
- Experience managing subcontractors independently
- Strong understanding of cost control, quality assurance, and material optimization
- Willing to work on-site and travel within Kenya if required
- Strong communication and reporting skills
- Ability to work with limited supervision and take ownership of projects
Required Skill Set (In case of IT requirements)
- AutoCAD (mandatory)
- Ability to read and interpret structural & architectural drawings
- MS Excel (material tracking, quantity calculations, reporting)
- Basic knowledge of project management tools is an advantage
Qualification -
- Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering
- Knowledge of RCC, masonry, structural drawings, BOQs, and QA/QC standards.
