Description

Star International School Mirdif, is a rapidly growing British curriculum school in Dubai. We are an ambitious school that aspires to be the very best version of ourselves, and for those who join us, we would help them do the same. 
We are currently looking for applications for a qualified and experienced Head of Technology Integration to join our Senior Leadership Team in February 2024 (later or earlier start date possible for the right person). 
Star Mirdif has been chosen as the Middle East's regional school for the ISP global Lab Tech project. This means our school is part of a network of LabSchools that we are funding to test innovative EdTech products and services. EdTech LabSchools are eligible for EdTech funding to put in place technology designed to positively impact well defined and measurable learning outcomes. 
The successful candidate will be tasked with leading the ISP Lab School project which is a global initiative to form a guild of EdTech specialists in different regions working on demonstrating the impact of technology focused around the 5 ISP learning pillars;

As such this is an opportunity to have an impact both locally, regionally and potentially internationally.
However, first and foremost beyond technology, we seek someone who is an educator and knows how educators think and what they need to be supported within the classroom. Purposeful use of technology that is used only when it impacts the outcomes of students or improves the workload of teachers is where we see technology at Star Mirdif. We have the infrastructure we need and a great deal of technology all ready for the successful applicant. What is needed next is someone able to bring a vision, strategy and ultimately culture of effective use of educational technology within the school.
An understanding of AI tools and how we can harness this in the near future to support teacher workload and student outcomes would be highly recommended for the position.

The role - key responsibilities:
EdTech Strategy & Implementation for LabSchool
Champion the vision of the LabSchool.
Develop and maintain a coherent and purposeful digital technology strategy for Star Mirdif in an ever changing and developing world
Working with the central EdTech team, design, pilot, and implement solutions tailored for the unique environment of the LabSchool.
Professional Development & Training
Lead professional development sessions for teachers, ensuring they are equipped to leverage new technologies effectively.
Foster a culture of continuous learning and development of staff in the use of the tools and approaches being piloted.
Create a feedback loop with educators to refine and adjust the use of technology based on classroom experiences.
Evaluation & Feedback
Implement tools and methodologies to measure the impact of technology on student engagement, learning outcomes, and teacher effectiveness.
Regularly report findings to school leadership, making recommendations for adjustments or further investments as necessary.
Contribution to LabSchool Programme and Guild
Actively participate in the broader LabSchool guild, sharing best practices, challenges, and successes from our LabSchool.
Collaborate with other EdTech leads across the group, driving synergy and cohesion in our approaches to technology-enhanced learning.
Contribute to the creation of resources, case studies, and guidelines for the wider school group, ensuring that successful experiments in the LabSchool can be scaled and replicated.
Stakeholder Engagement
Engage with parents, students, and the wider community to gather feedback on the LabSchool's EdTech initiatives.
Promote the vision and achievements of the LabSchool both internally and externally, through workshops, presentations, and publications.
Change Management and Project Management
Whilst every effort has been made to explain the main duties and responsibilities of the post, each individual task undertaken may not be identified. Employees will be expected to comply with any reasonable request from a manager to undertake work of a similar level that is not specified in this job description. Employees are expected to be courteous to colleagues and provide a welcoming environment to visitors and telephone callers.
 

Skills, Qualifications and Experience
Education: Relevant teaching qualification: minimum of a BEd or BA/BSc + PGCE/QTS
Experience: Minimum of 5 years teaching experience and 2 years middle leader or senior leadership experience
Experience of teaching in a British school either internationally or in the UK
Competencies:
High levels of EdTech knowledge and skills
Leadership
Excellent working knowledge of the UK Curriculum and the latest UK practice
Excellent communication skills, and command of the English language, in spoken and written form
A collaborative team-player with excellent personal skills.
