Sharjah Oasis for Technology and Innovation (SOTI) aims to create a prosperous business and research community, located on the outskirts of Sharjah and Khorfakkan, spanning 96.3 hectares of land within the Al Manazel area. SOTI will employ world-renowned researchers and scientists, supported by inspirational leaders and talented people from universities, businesses and industries, who will assist organizations throughout the region with pioneering research and innovation.
SOTI will embark upon pioneering research in the areas that matter most to our community and region, from technology development in the field of water harvesting, conservation, desalination treatment to the development of satellite launch systems for space exploration and space technology research. SOTI will exist to place 'Made in the UAE' at the forefront of
technological discoveries and advances. Developing businesses and promoting inclusive and sustainable economic growth and employment for all in a free-zone environment.
SOTI will be more than facilities, structures and technology. SOTI will create an environment that inspires collaboration, innovation and creativity in an ecosystem that promotes life and sustainability. Such an environment will provide effective knowledge coordination and anchor the UAE through a sustainable ecosystem for generations to come.
SOTI will:

SOTI will be the nexus of wealth in pioneering research, employing world-renowned talented individuals, who have the passion and ambition to sustain a culture of creativity and innovation. Their researchers will operate within each sector to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all individuals at all ages in the UAE (Sustainability Development Goal or SDG 3). This will include areas of significant importance to the society and community, and we will seek answers to the aspects of research that impact the wellbeing and sustainability of our life and our planet's health, including:
MedHealth - Aligned to a central ambition of the UN 2030 Agenda; SDG 3, SOTI aspires to achieve medical advances in devices, drugs, vaccines, procedures and systems, ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all individuals at all ages.
Biotechnology - Advances related to biological systems and living organisms. These sought after advances will directly contribute to remarkable improvements, contributing to various SDG areas such
as SDG 3, SDG 7 and SDG 12.
Sustainable Technologies - Driven by the hallmarks of SDG 11 advocating for investing in disrupting innovative technologies, SOTI aims to promote Technologies related to advances in sustainability.
Renewable Energies - Advances related to renewable energy generation, storage and distribution, ensuring access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all. Aligned to SDG 7 on Affordable and Clean Energy and SDG 9 on Industry Innovation and Infrastructure, SDG 11 on Sustainable Cities and Communities, SDG 12 on Responsible Consumption and Production and SDG 13 calling for Climate Action.
ICT, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics - Advances related to next-generation technologies that can also be used to support research in the life and sustainability sectors. Promoting such technologies will serve as a key driver to SDG 9.
Space Sciences & Technology - Advances covering remote sensing, space bioscience and other areas of the life and sustainability sectors. Promoting pioneering innovation and sustainable industrialization as strategic boosters of sustainable economic growth and development, aligned to SDG 9 and SDG 11.
Research, innovation, creativity, enterprising entrepreneurship and commercialization will be the focus of the Sharjah Oasis for Technology and Innovation. The focus will be their community and its schools, industries, businesses and people, creating not only solutions, answers, knowledge and research but also employment opportunities, education and growth for the economy. Various sectors in the region will harness SOTI for solutions to life and sustainability challenges as they witness their success in developing a creative and innovative ecosystem in which businesses, industries, society and the community participate and collaborate in an environment filled with inspiration.
The Objective of the Role
The CBDO will spearhead SOTI commercial activities to ensure financial sustainability and growth within a pioneering technology, innovation research park and free zone which will operate in the areas of the highest importance to our community.
The CBDO will lead, champion and manage a team to ensure that it delivers high performance in all business areas, including the delivery of maximum profitable new business growth, through commercial activities related to the operation of a free zone environment within SOTI and the commercialization of research activities also within SOTI through direct sales, developing target area potential with effective customer relationships.
- Plan, lead, delegate and deliver strategically aligned sales and marketing plans for SOTI, to achieve growth, profitability, product targets, and develop local marketplace potential, in line budgets, compliance and regulatory standards.
- Recruit, lead, develop and motivate a competent team capable of achieving high performance targets and goals, to resource the delivery of quality advice, sales targets, monthly and annual revenue targets, business objectives and provide required coverage for SOTI.
- Contribute to the development, piloting and/or introduction of new initiatives, processes and systems to established requirements, timescales and quality standards.
- Manage, maintain, monitor and report on the requirements and standards of regulators, ensuring protection of the interests of the customer and taking action as required.
- Deliver short term / one-off projects and activities as required by and to the standards and outcomes agreed with SOTI Chief Executive Officer.
- Develop and execute strategies to increase SOTI sales and profits. Identify profitable business opportunities, secure sound business deals, and lead business development associates.
- Develop new business growth, through commercial activities related to the operation of a free zone environment within SOTI and the commercialization of research activities also within SOTI.
- Develop and sustain solid relationships with company stakeholders and customers.
- Analyze customer feedback data to determine whether customers are satisfied with company products and services.
- Recruit, train, and guide business development staff.
- Provide insight into product development and competitive positioning.
- Analyze financial data and develop effective strategies to reduce business costs and increase company profits.
- Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities.
- Collaborate with company executives to determine the most viable, cost-effective approach to pursue new business opportunities.
- Meet with potential investors to present company offerings and negotiate business deals.
