Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Chief Accountant to join our team.

Main Responsibilities:

The Chief Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the Disbursements Controller team and Credit Controller team, ensuring efficient management of disbursements and credit control processes. This role involves significant responsibility in managing the Revenue & Receivables cycle and the Costs & Payable cycle, with a particular focus on rental income, property expenses and repair & maintenance and refurbishment projects.

• Assist in the preparation of financial reports and other relevant reports.
• Ensuring compliance with policies & procedures, IFRS, DoA and Tax regulations of the State of Qatar and other regulatory requirements of company by-laws.
• Providing BU management with accurate, timely and relevant financial information.
• Ensuring proper & accurate month end closing and reporting.
• Liaise with internal and external auditors, tax consultants and legal for any relevant matter or engagement.
• Support the implementation of new technology, assess inherent risks, recommend and implement mitigating controls and ensure delivery with the project timelines and expected quality.
• Support consolidation and tax team in their requests.
• Monitor the performance of the accounting teams and recommend development programs for the team.

Revenue & Receivables Cycle:

• Oversee the credit control processes, ensuring timely collection of receivables.
• Assess creditworthiness of new and existing customers and establish appropriate credit limits.
• Develop and implement strategies to minimize bad debts and improve cash flow.
• Oversee the recording and reporting of rental income, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
• Manage the receivable ledger accounts and ensure timely invoices and collection.
• Implement strategies to improve revenue recognition and collection processes.

Costs & Payable Cycle:

• Oversee the processing of all disbursements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
• Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure timely payment of obligations.
• Implement and maintain effective internal controls over disbursements.
• Oversee the recording and reporting of property expenses and other costs, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
• Manage the accounts payable ledger and ensure timely and accurate payment of obligations.
• Implement strategies to improve cost control and payment processes.
• Monitor and manage expenses related to repair & maintenance and refurbishment projects.
• Ensure accurate recording and reporting of these expenses in financial statements.
• Develop and implement procedures to evaluate and control costs associated with these projects.

Financial Reporting:

• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Ensure all financial reports are accurate, complete and prepared in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
• Provide detailed analysis and commentary on financial performance, particularly in relation to rental income, property expenses and repair & maintenance and refurbishment projects.

Compliance and Internal Controls:

• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, laws, and regulations.
• Implement and maintain effective internal controls over financial reporting and operations.
• Conduct regular audits and reviews to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data.

Collaboration:

• Supervise and guide the Disbursements Controller team and Credit Controller team.
• Work closely with other departments to support overall business objectives.
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making.
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes.

Skills

• 7+ years of experience in finance and accounting financial reporting
• and budgeting.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting; Professional Degree is strong plus such as CPA, CMA or DipIFRS preferred.
• Preferably from Hotel or Hospitality industry.
