JOB DESCRIPTION

Key Performance Areas: Core, essential responsibilities / outputs of the position (KPA's)

Mission/ Core purpose of the Job

The  Consultant Financial Operations role is accountable to support the SM Financial Operations with insights-driven financial performance analytics for MTN Dubai. The responsibilities of this role include:

•   Support development and improvement of advanced financial performance management framework, goals, targets, indicators and metrics 

•   Assist in generating analytics based financial performance and insights reports, variance investigations, benchmarked performance studies and recommendatory reports to support executive decision making 

•   Act as a subject matter expert for the consolidation, period close reporting and intercompany accounting functions 

•   Proactive adoption of critical forward-thinking tools, advanced analytics models, research techniques, benchmarking and market research studies, with the objective of providing value-based financial performance indicators and strategic insight

The role will focus on providing support to the Manco Dubai team and reports to the Senior Manager: Financial Operations.

 

 

As part the Finance team, key responsibilities areas of the 

 

Account Payable (AP)

Oversee invoicing and expenditure processes 

Manage the processing of forex payments and requests from embargo countries 

Oversee the AP audits 

Ensure timely closing of Accounts Payable

Manage queries of vendors and validate balance confirmation

Perform accounts payable sub-ledger review

Manage bank releasers to complete the payment cycle

Review petty cash advances and liquidation

Validation of AP documents on pre-approval process to ensure compliance on DOA- Delegation of Authority

Review of all accounting entries 

Period close and consolidation

Oversee end-to-end management of journals and ledgers 

Review recurring month end journal entries 

Manage the staff costs entries

Review and correct any variances of accounting transactions and close temporary accounts before trial balance data upload

Manage Review of External Audits (Interim, Hard close and Year end)

Prepare and review operational report, on a monthly basis

Perform Year-end closing of books and roll forward accounting entries to new year 

Manage HFM monthly IC (interco) and CF tools

Manage submission of financial data in HFM via Data Process management

Prepare cash flow working paper to be used for CF non-cash transactions

Manage month end queries from Group during consolidation

RESPONSIBILITIES

Treasury and cash management

Prepare short term cash forecast: Monthly funding requirement of AED accounts

Perform forex accounting

Release funds reviews (number of payments reviewed online/ manual before release)

Perform payroll reconciliation (Banks and payroll general ledger (GL) for expats)

Intercompany

Define and review intercompany policies and contracts on an annual basis

Manage the overall activities of intercompany transactions, including balance confirmation, receipts and invoicing

Validate the calculation of loan interest to intercompany

Responsible to ensure that intercompany balances are aligned at period end

Calculate interest on outstanding balances (current account) 

Other

Manage end to end cash forecasting

Ensure process enhancement of Oracle Fusion ERPsystem  as per requirements

Ensure post-closing review of accounting schedules and records

Provide required ad-hoc accounting support and information to Opcos and Group.

Manage and oversee the data management system and close coordination with service providers 

Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the departments

Manage the A/P module of MTN ICT Ethiopia office and provide accounting support.

QUALIFICATIONS

Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies)

Staff Leadership and Management

Lead/Responsible for all staff reporting.

Ability to work in a team

Responsible for self-learning and development with guidance from the Manager

Ensure a ‘MTN centric’ and partnership approach to develop strong relationships with other working groups

Ensure effective communication across the working groups on an ongoing basis

Education:

Minimum of 3-year tertiary degree

Qualified Chartered Accountant/Chartered Finance Analyst/Relevant Financial Management Professional Qualification (preferred)

Relevant certification / accreditation / membership with professional body in Finance, Accounting, Corporate Finance bodies

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in management of Business Finance Planning/FP&A/Financial Analytics and Reporting/External Reporting

Worked across diverse cultures and geographies advantageous

Experience in continuous improvement through the implementation of best practices 

Experience working in a global/multinational enterprise (understanding emerging markets advantageous)

Worked across diverse cultures and geographies

Abreast of global mind-set and best practice
