JOB DESCRIPTION
The Category Specialist leads the planning, forecasting, analysis, development and implementation of strategic procurement initiatives in partnership with end users across NMC. This position is also responsible for product analysis related to the assigned consumables categories. This position reports to the Category Assistant Manager
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead on all group procurement activities relating to assigned consumables categories.
Coordinate procurement activities within NMC hospitals relating to assigned consumables categories to gather scope and requirements for all third-party consumable purchases.
Ensures that end users and OU’s follows NMC RFQ process for all procurement activities.
Responsibility for managing inventory supplies for the assigned consumables categories stock items including stores management and distribution.
Leads on contract negotiations with vendors and manage the contracting processing.
Act as an escalation point on vendor disputes and performance management issues for the assigned consumables categories.
Set out short, medium, long term procurement planning activities the assigned consumables categories.
Develop vendor management procedures including but not limited to vendor compliance and performance management in association with hospital/unit teams.
Work with data analytics team to develop performance and management reports for the assigned consumables categories.
Ensure procurement activities are compliant with group procurement policies and ensure processes and documentation are compliant with audit requirements.
Must be compliant with all personal codes of conduct requirements.
Ensure contracts are compliant with regulatory and government authority requirements.
Own the overall cost saving initiatives and working capital metrics for assigned consumables categories.
Develop consolidation strategy to reduce the number of contracts, vendors and SKU’s through initiating standardization RFQ, reducing the number of brand and evaluating alternatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 5 years procurement experience including 3 years in Consumables ideally in a healthcare setting within the UAE.
Minimum bachelor’s degree.
Excellent communication skills and command of oral and written English
