JOB SUMMARY:

Administers planned, quality nursing care in the OT in a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and personnel.

 

3.     DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

3.1         Dons & adheres to operating room attire according to policy and procedure.

3.2         Prepares room and assembles instruments & equipment based on patient’s surgical needs.

3.3         Demonstrate knowledge of aseptic technique.

3.4         Correctly identifies patient and surgical site.

3.5         Checks thoroughly the pre-operative checklist of patient; including completion of required diagnostic & laboratory procedures

3.6         Monitors patients’ vital signs in the pre-operative area and post-operative recovery room

3.7         Positions patient with the use of positional aids, maintaining circulatory, respiratory, neuromuscular homeostasis while maintaining privacy and providing maximum exposure to the operative procedure

3.8         Demonstrates skill in performing the duties of scrub nurse and circulating nurse

3.9         Provides safety to patient, to self & the whole surgical team by adopting safety protocols like ‘Time Out’

3.10     Implements correct practices for the prevention of infection, practicing strict aseptic technique & maintenance of sterile field.

3.11     Maintains confidentiality of patient’s records and updates all relevant patient documentation / medical records as per hospital policy and procedure.

3.12     Demonstrates competence in Cardio – Pulmonary Resuscitation technique

3.13     Strictly adheres to the waste segregation and disposal as per hospital policy

3.14     Responsible for checking of crash carts and emergency equipment’s as per hospital policy.

3.15     Responsible for appropriate storage and maintaining inventory of medications including high alert medications and narcotics as per hospital policy

3.16     Responsible for appropriate storage and maintaining inventory of Hazmat items including the MSDS as per hospital policy

3.17     Follows the reporting mechanisms /chain of command in the Nursing Department.   Issues are correctly and quickly reported. These include all patient care issues.

3.18     Demonstrates an economical approach to the utilization of equipment’s and supplies while assisting the charge nurse to maintain an appropriate ward stock

3.19     Takes responsibility for the unit in the absence of the Charge Nurse as assigned

3.20     Demonstrates sound knowledge and participates in fire safety, patient safety, infection control and the other necessary precautions as per hospital policy.

3.21     Takes responsibility for professional clinical practice and is actively involved in updating and continuing education.

3.22     Participates as a member of the code black team as per hospital policy

3.23     Demonstrates strict adherence to all hospital policies and procedures

3.24     Performs any other assigned responsibilities as identified by the Charge Nurse / Supervisor / Nursing Administrator.

3.25     Comply with all OSH and infection control policies, standards and procedures and cooperate with hospital management to comply those requirements

3.26     Work accordance with the documented OSH procedures and instructions, specific responsibilities

3.27     Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures

3.28     Notifying OSH Hazards, incidents, Near misses and issues and assistance with the preparation of risk assessments, incident reports

3.29     Comply with Waste management procedures and policies

3.30     Attend applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills and awareness programs

3.31     Use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems

 


 

 
Qualifications
 

4.     QUALIFICATION, LICENSURE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SPECIAL SKILLS:

4.1         Bachelor of Science in Nursing/Diploma in Nursing.

4.2         Current license in country of origin and with HAAD license  to practice in Abu   Dhabi, UAE

4.3         Minimum 2 years nursing experience after qualification.

4.4         BLS provider

4.5          Good English spoken & written, Arabic language advantageous/desirable but not essential.

Job Summary:

Directs supervises and coordinates the activities in the designated area and ensures good standard of care is provided.

Duties & Responsibilities:

    Check, prepare and assemble all machineries, equipment’s, and instruments required prior to procedure, based on patients procedural needs.
    Plan, implement and evaluate the peri-procedure nursing care given to patients, undergoing endoscopic procedures, is effective and in an organized manner.
    Adheres strictly to the ‘TIME OUT’ procedure
    Competent in monitoring of patients during and post sedation / anesthesia
    Ensure that patients recovering from anesthesia receive optimum care and is able to demonstrate complete knowledge in the usage of Aldreth scoring
    Maintain and update all relevant patient documentation / medical records as per hospital policy and procedure.

Function

Provides direct and indirect care for patients within the DDI framework. Responsibilities
