Senior Procurement Officer, Zambia

We need a Senior Procurement Officer,

The Senior Procurement Officer is responsible for planning, managing, and executing procurement activities to ensure timely, cost-effective, and compliant acquisition of goods and services. The role focuses on supplier management, contract negotiation, cost optimization, and adherence to procurement policies and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with organizational goals
• Manage end-to-end procurement processes including sourcing, tendering, evaluation, and contract award
• Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to achieve best value for money
• Prepare and manage procurement plans, budgets, and forecasts
• Lead contract negotiations and ensure effective contract management and compliance
• Monitor supplier performance and manage supplier relationships
• Ensure procurement activities comply with internal policies, ethical standards, and applicable laws
• Analyze market trends and recommend cost-saving and risk-mitigation strategies
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders (finance, operations, logistics, projects)
• Prepare procurement reports and present performance updates to management
• Support audits and ensure proper documentation and record-keeping
• Mentor and supervise junior procurement staff where applicable

Key Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or related field
• Professional certification such as CIPS, CPSM, or equivalent is an added advantage
• Minimum of 5–10 years’ experience in procurement or supply chain, with at least 3 years in a senior role
• Strong negotiation, contract management, and supplier management skills
• Sound knowledge of procurement regulations, tender procedures, and ethical standards
• Excellent analytical, planning, and problem-solving abilities
• Proficiency in ERP systems and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• High level of integrity and attention to detail
