Purpose:
Cigna continues to expand across the Middle East and Africa region through an innovative array of products that meet the growing needs of the health insurance market. The underwriting team has played a key role in this success of Cigna MEA and are looking to recruit an underwriting manager to join the team based in Dubai. The underwriting manager will lead a team of underwriters that work on new business quotes and renewals of SME groups.
Key Responsibilities:
Day-to-day management and mentoring of a team of underwriters
Use portfolio performance metrics to drive insightful conversations with client management team lead, and agree on renewal strategy for various SME book-rated products for Middle East and Africa
Build a portfolio monitoring tool to track the ongoing performance of SME portfolio
Collaborate with actuaries, product and clinical team to review and upgrade SME plan designs on an ongoing basis, and ensure the products meet market needs
Build effective relationship with sales and client management partners to ensure profitable growth of the SME business
Ownership to deliver on new business, persistency and loss ratio targets
Develop data analytics tools and dashboard to track performance of portfolio, and individual clients
Conduct analytical reviews to identify and understand trends, patterns and insights that are used to successfully manage portfolio
Up to date on regulatory requirements and market developments
Education and Experience:
10+ years of insurance experience in health underwriting and portfolio management
Experience managing a team of underwriters
Bachelor’s degree in finance, mathematics, engineering, actuarial or similar
Data analytics and process improvement
Capabilities
People management skills
Commercial mindset
High level of numeracy & accuracy
Excellent negotiation and communication skills
Ability to take ownership and effective time management
Manage stake holder expectations and deliver under pressure
