Section Manager/Supervisor - FMCG/Fresh Food, GMG, Dubai, UAE

About the Role:

To look after the day to day running of the section and ensure that all standards in stock, display and service are met.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain the display of the section and ensure that it is stocked properly, arranged, and sorted.

Ensure that the right barcodes and price labels are correctly placed on all products throughout the section.

Arrange the warehouse order based on expiry dates to ensure that the product is transferred to the floor efficiently.

Participate in stock take and be responsible for stock accuracy by arranging and labeling stock correctly.

Activate manual in manual out stock adjustments weekly to ensure wastage and shrinkage numbers are updated and highlighted with approvals.

Timely brief the staff about new promotions, offers and new product arrivals.

Coordinate with the decoration team to ensure that the section is properly decorated as per the set plan.

Ensure that the hygiene of the section is always well maintained during the day.

Job Description Summary

The regional Logistics team supports all 8 MENA countries which talabat operate in to deliver excellent customer experience while operating efficiently. As a Manager Logistics Optimization, you will project manage Specialists and Analysts in the Optimization Team and local Logistics Teams to ensure that decision-making is well informed with data and analysis. You will also establish that operations systems and products are used as efficiently as possible, data is available, clean and expansive for all regional and local stakeholders across countries and propose developments and optimisation to existing tools and their implementations.

What’s on Your Plate?

As the Logistics Optimization Manager, you will be recognized within Talabat in the following key areas:

Subject Matter Expert (which we’ll bring you up to speed on):

Rider Staffing: Expertise in optimizing rider staffing levels to ensure efficient and reliable delivery operations.

Order Forecasting: Specialized knowledge in accurately predicting order volumes to facilitate smooth logistics planning.

Rider Payment Design: Proficiency in designing and implementing rider payment systems to incentivize performance.

Scoring and Influencing Rider Behavior: Ability to develop and apply scoring mechanisms to influence positive rider behavior.

Logistics Metrics: Comprehensive understanding of logistics metrics and their impact on business performance.

Analytics & Data Management:

Utilize in-depth experience to identify best practices and improvements for Talabat's markets and regions.

Rigorously test and analyze complex problems, documenting the impact objectively and recommending optimal solutions.

Participate in experiments and regional analyses while collaborating with other departments to execute initiatives.

Handle in-depth analysis, prepare data-driven cases, and present solutions with visualizations and supporting material.

Anticipate the reaction of metrics, KPIs, and riders to changes, making data-driven decisions to adjust parameters.

Problem Solving:

Solve unique and complex problems with a broad impact on the business, using innovative and conceptual thinking.

Develop short-term and long-term relieving plans to address issues and counter challenges effectively.

Proactively monitor all markets, flagging and resolving issues or complications ahead of time.

Initiate projects based on business needs and market conditions to drive continuous improvement.

Stakeholder & Programme Management:

Serve as the regional center of knowledge, mentoring and training new joiners and staff in relevant functions.

Collaborate with Delivery Hero to explore solutions and developments and ensure Talabat's leadership in these areas.

Manage end-to-end rollouts and changes, aligning with stakeholders and senior management as needed.

Communicate complex concepts, anticipate objections, and persuade senior executives in local markets.

Impact the achievement of customer, operational, project, or service objectives, driving positive change throughout the organization.

Reports to: Sr. Manager Logistics Performance & Optimization

Key stakeholders: Regional Logistics, Local Logistics, Delivery Hero Product Ops, Talabat Product. Q-Commerce

What Did We Order?

Bachelor’s degree. STEM and Economics backgrounds are highly preferred.

4-6 years of experience in tech start-ups or operational roles are highly preferred.

Excellent Analytics and Data driven problem-solving skills are required.

Proficiency in SQL skills is required.

Experience with Tableau, Data studio or similar reporting and visualisation tools skills is required.

Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to drive complex ideas and processes to diverse people across markets and teams.

Careem Grocery is on a mission to reinvent the way people shop for grocery, pharmacy and retail products. As an exciting new vertical within Careem (a startup within a startup), we’re in the early stages of building our product and have plenty of interesting and fundamental challenges to solve in order to achieve our ambitious growth goals in this burgeoning space.

What you'll do

Demand Forecasting: Utilize historical sales data, market trends, and customer insights to develop accurate demand forecasts for our quick commerce groceries business.

Inventory Management: Plan and manage inventory levels to meet customer demand while minimizing costs and stockouts. Collaborate with suppliers and logistics teams to optimize inventory replenishment processes.

Collaborative Forecasting: Engage with internal stakeholders, such as sales, marketing, and product teams, to gather input and align on demand forecasts.

Data Analysis: Analyze sales data, market trends, and other relevant factors to identify patterns and drivers of demand. Utilize statistical models and forecasting tools to generate accurate demand projections.

Continuous Improvement: Monitor demand planning processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement enhancements to optimize forecasting accuracy, inventory turnover, and supply chain efficiency.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, logistics, and operations, to ensure effective execution of demand plans. Provide input and support for new product launches, promotions, and supply chain initiatives.

Systems and Tools: Leverage advanced demand planning tools, statistical forecasting software to enhance forecasting accuracy and automate processes where applicable.

What you'll need

Successful candidates will have a passionate commitment to improving the lives of people, an insane focus on excellence and customer centricity, and a strong alignment with our core values and purpose.

At least 2+ years of experience in a supply chain role or similar. Time spent in tech, logistics, or a start-up is a plus

Bachelors in Engineering, with a focus on Supply Chain or Operations Management is a plus.

Strong analytical capabilities, mastery of Excel is required. Bonus points for technical ability in SQL

Grittiness. You never hesitate to roll up your sleeves and address something hands-on, you persevere when others fall away

High level of attention to detail & speed of execution, the role will require lots of daily operational follow ups.

Strong communication skills, as you will need to communicate with all levels of Supplier & DC operation teams.

Self-starter - the ability to self-serve, investigate and get the data we require will make you much more effective in this role
