Job Description

Under limited supervision, conducts work requiring independent evaluation, selection, adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria. Is fully competent in most aspects of the job. Works on projects of substantial complexity. May assume lead responsibilities for a team of engineers and professional support personnel.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:15+ years experience in a similar capacityAbu Dhabi experience is a must  PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Degree in civil engineering from a reputable University Chartered Engineer or Professional Engineer certification

You will be working as Commissioning Engineer, will be the part of Electrification Business Area for Services division based in Abu Dhabi, UAE. In this role you will be responsible to execute service orders for testing, commissioning, and site support under instructions from Project Manager / Service Manager following company procedures and customers’ requirements, in compliance with safety, technical and contractual requirements

Your responsibilities

Participating in FAT with customer where possible for MV Switchgear and LV Switchgear, receiving the project documentation and all the technical information necessary to start the commissioning activity, filling in the site report and agreeing the actions with the project manager / service manager prior to site commissioning or modification

Accomplishing the requested preliminary activities like permissions, gate pass, power on/shutdown permits, application programs download and documentation check using the proper software tools and instrumentation, according to company testing procedures

Verifying the correctness of all the hardware connections between the system (MV switchgears / LV system, operator interfaces and other network devices) under test making sure that the installed cables and wiring are made according to the related documents and are working properly

Properly installing and verifying the correct functionality of all the installed devices in accordance with FAT results using diagnostic and application tools and following the project documentation as reference, providing feedback to engineering department for improvements in schemes, corrections of drawings or any other modifications if required by customer at site after supply

Solving hardware and functional incongruence and mistakes if any found during site testing phase, modifying the wrong hardware or software items involved and testing again the new hardware or software configuration

Updating the system documentation with proper mark-ups and software configuration periodic updates, maintaining due trace of all the changes, following company testing procedure indications, obtaining the S.A.T (Factory Acceptance Test) certificate from the customer at the completion of the job, in cooperation with the project leader and the project manager

Collecting all the updated documentation at the conclusion of the commissioning job and sending it to the service manager for the delivery of the “As Commissioned” documents to the engineering department if changes have been made in agreement with engineering department

Collecting all the certificates and the other requested documents to complete the so called “Log Project Book” for the specific project and deliver it to the Project Leader and Project Manager for contractual use

Attending, together with the customer, third party devices official testing when included in the scope of supply directly at sub suppliers premises and at the end of the testing phase cooperating with project leader and project manager for the delivery on site of the system, giving proper instruction to the company shipping department.

Your background

Bachelor’s degree – Electrical Engineering

Minimum of 5+ years of past experience in the MV Switchgear complete protection relay / LV Switchgear UMC , M102 , VFD , soft starter and PLC field of application or similar fields (i.e. commissioning)

Knowledge of the most common testing tools (hardware and computerized) and safe working procedures at site

Fluency in English language is mandatory

Main Purpose of Role:

Development Discipline Engineering Role to provide support to the engineering team on projects and within the business as required.  

 

Qualifications:

Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with relevant discipline from recognized university

Master degree in relevant discipline will be an added advantage 

 

Performance Characteristics 

Dependable employee who will perform work with a positive “can-do” attitude for work assigned

A Hard worker who will focus on completing task assigned

Positive communicator who will actively exchange information within department and within other departments. Good Verbal & Written Communicator (English)

Is capable of managing their own work requirements with limited supervision

For small task is capable of determining required activities and deliverable, estimating required man-hours, planning the required schedule sequence, allocating resources

Junior Engineer Level of Technical Knowledge. Capable to originate non-complex & non-critical engineering work. Basic working knowledge of standard software packages.

Possess strong report writing skills & Focuses on learning from the errors made under close supervision.

Raises issues to Leads early after discovering a problem

Basic awareness of schedule dates.

Basic awareness of man hour budgets.

 

Knowledge / Experience (Skills):

Essential

3 -6 years of Oil & Gas Design Experience.

 

Advantage

Previous experience in Region

 

Technical Knowledge and Skills (Discipline Specific):

Knowledge of basic engineering processes

Familiarity with international codes, standards and engineering practices

Must be familiar with all aspects of design from concept to detailed design

Technical analysis of engineering problems

Preparation of non-critical engineering design documents

Development of Process Flow Diagrams and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams.

Hysys Simulation and H&MB development

Must have a ability to prepare engineering deliverables as per company technical competency standards .
