Summary
We are looking for a substitute teacher who will be a key member of the American School Dhahran.The position is primarily responsible for managing and delivering lessons according to the lesson plans developed by the regular teacher, in the absence of the regular teacher.
Position Duties
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Demonstrate commitment to the safety and security of children and young people (child protection).
- Deliver lessons to students as outlined in lesson plans developed by regular teachers.
- Motivate students to learn and participate in the classroom during lessons.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
- Attend staff meetings, if required.
- Supervise students outside classrooms. if required.
- Coordinate with the ASD substitute teacher coordinator for ASD classroom expectations and emergency protocol.
- Maintain a safe learning environment for students and staff at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal and/or the Assistant Principals.
Qualifications and Knowledge
The ideal candidate will have:
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree.

- Experience as a substitute teacher (preferred).

- Excellent command of English, both written and oral.
- Highly developed classroom management skills.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Maturity to handle a range of situations.
- Loyalty and a high level of confidentiality.
