Job Specific Responsibilities:
Support power operations in tackling topics of future operability and lay a roadmap in coordination with other directorates and division manager.
Evaluate suitability of current operational tools and suggest the best considering constraints, future generation mixture, and plants practicalities
Support review of operational dispatch models in offline and online applications.
Review dispatch and production desks in real time and suggest improvements where applicable
Identify potential fuel dispatch savings within the economic dispatch activities:
Work on reducing backcast error between optimal and actual dispatch (to 1%)
Work on reducing gas nomination deviations (to less than 2%)
Support generation planning team strategically to unlock potential improvements in optimal outage management and economic dispatch.
Model review support for all offline and online power operations tools including short term and medium term forecasting tools.
Review of all operational procedures in light of future generation mix.
Support Electricity code review and updates to cope with sector changes
Support the development of operational power system models , including grid, generation and load.
Support the development and implementation of tools and procedures to support the evaluation and analysis of grid reliability and security, in both operational and strategic planning timeframes
Power quality and relay protection experience is an advantage.
Oversee the communication with internal and external bodies to assure the adequate availability of Power and Water Capacity and fuel is sufficient to fulfill Power and Water Demand, reserves with maintaining system stability and network security.
Oversee the scheduling of generating units connected to grid while ensuring economy of operation and security of supply.
Identify daily Strategic planning studies and cost analysis studies for reporting purposes.
Training and capacity building in the field of expertise.
Liaise with counterparts in power stations, regional control centers of the distribution companies & interconnected authorities such as ENG/ GCCIA and Oman for major planning and studies related issues.
Supervise preparation of studies reports and provide recommendations to amend existing operational policies and procedures.
Conduct routine audits to ensure compliance to the laid down systems and procedures.
Review procedures, codes and agreements from power operations perspectives and coordinate for strategic compliance of system operator with Abu Dhabi government initiatives.
Lead sector wide initiatives that yields financial savings and internal process improvements for promoting operational excellence.

Manage the activities of direct reports to ensure that all work is carried out in an efficient manner, in line with the section plans, and policies and procedures
Provide input into the preparation and consolidation of the function’s budget and advise line management on risks and opportunities
Implement the opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices taking into account ‘international leading practice’ and changes in business environment and leveraging insights. This includes managing the related change management efforts.
Ensure adherence to all health, safety, security and environment (HSSE) policies and requirements
Ensure that all relative reports are prepared timely and accurately, and meet the section’s requirements, policies and standards
