JOB DESCRIPTION

The Opportunity 

Are you someone with a strong underwriting background, with knowledge of the MENA market and of all Financial Lines products, including Cyber? The role suits an experienced underwriter who enjoys underwriting and trading in a very dynamic market, with the desire to learn and grow a profitable portfolio in a very strong and resilient team

Reporting to the Regional Head of Financial Lines for the MENA region, you will be underwriting all Financial Lines risks/products and will be engaging with all of Chubb’s main RI partners. We are looking for someone with a strong technical underwriting background, knowledge of all main products, with emphasis on the Cyber market and product. 

The work includes underwriting in accordance to Chubb’s appetite and guidelines, quoting, and supporting the with admin and the manager on the necessary tasks to maximize performance on both the workflow and profitability. You will also be expected to represent Chubb externally and internally, engaging with a range of stakeholders, including but not limiting to, senior management, clients, RI brokers, cedents, and direct brokers.

Your Responsibilities for this role may include, but are not limited to:

Represent and promote Chubb at all levels across the region; to Brokers, Cedents, Clients and to all other internal and external partners.

Enhance visibility and develop external market awareness, provide flexible strategies to support changing market dynamics and to deliver exceptional service at all times. 

Responsible to underwrite all Financial Lines products, including Cyber

Optimize performance to help deliver Chubb MENA’s targets

Develop and own many Financial Lines underwriting tasks

Input into furthering  technical understanding of current and emerging risks, opportunities and customers

Review wordings

Identify profitable opportunities in the market

Work on tasks optimizations, improving efficiency

What skills & experience are required?

Ability to engage and influence a broad range of internal and external stakeholders

Knowledge of the MENA market

Excellent communications skills

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and solve issues using own initiative

A professional who is recognised by the market that exudes all qualities expected of a Chubb Underwriter?

Relationships with reinsurance and direct brokers

Strong technical underwriting knowledge preferably in Cyber

ACII or progress towards is preferred though not essential

Fluent in English (Arabic and/or French advantageous)?

About the Role

 

The Proposal Engineer collaborates with cross functional teams from Commercial, Process Technology and Project Delivery and is responsible for developing cost effective Nutrition & Health systems proposals which are based on proven designs that meet or exceed customer needs. The Proposal Engineer will follow all CPX IDEF processes and procedures and ensure that the systems proposals, which generally include costs estimates, P&ID and layout drawings, proposal text, and project schedules are completed in a compliant and timely manner.

 

You would be a part of the EMEA team that currently consists of 9 Proposal Engineers, and you would be reporting to the Head of Systems Proposal Management based in Denmark.

 

About Your Responsibilities

 

Collaborate closely with the Commercial function to ensure customer requirements are clearly defined and understood and that a detailed RFQ analysis has been completed as required.

Understand and follow all SPX FLOW internal governance and proposal approval processes e.g. QIA, TCR, LEAF, LOAF.

Collaborate with Commercial, Process Technology and Project Delivery functions to develop process solutions including process flow sheets and P&ID’s and ensure proposed solution and scope development align with customer needs and expectations.

Use calculation software for equipment sizing.

Prepare the detailed costing (equipment & services) using the appropriate tool (SQS-APACE).

Build relationships with internal subcontractors to obtain the necessary sub-quotations or cost estimates.

Consult external subcontractors in accordance with Supply Chain management IDEF processes and procedures.

Organize the necessary design review - quotation review - cost review (TCR).

Identify and share all potential risks during TCR (cost, scope, acceptance criteria, etc.).

Work with Engineering and Project Management to create detailed project schedules.

Ensure project risk is identified and mitigated inside the proposal process.

Support completion and review of all documents required for LEAF/LOAF submission.

Ensure the deviation list properly reflects the scope and limits.

Manage internal communication between departments and / or Business Units towards building one SPX FLOW proposal.

Ensure proposals are submitted to internal and external customers in a right and performant timing.

Log all cost, price, and scope changes between quotation revision.

Maintain a strong relationship and trust with Commercial organization.

Support development of CVO quotes with Project Management & Commercial.

Participate in handover meetings and in closure meetings at the end of a project.

 

What Do You Need

 

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (Engineering, Food Technology or a related discipline).

3+ years’ Nutrition & Health industry experience - proposals, process engineering, project management or equivalent.

Knowledge and practice of the overall Nutrition & Health Systems project delivery concepts of engineering, supply chain, installation, and commissioning processes to ensure on time, on cost and at high quality delivery.

Detailed knowledge of the requirements of the Nutrition & Health industry and experience in preparing and executing small / medium N&H proposals.

Knowledge of food/beverage regulations/hygiene requirements including EH&S.

Familiarity and understanding of both wet and dry process requirements.

Good MS Office and AutoCAD skills.

Understanding supply chain management and low-cost country supply strategy.

Familiarity with common costing and reporting tools like SAP, EXAPTA etc.

Fluent English and good communication skills, both written and verbal.

Financial awareness and understanding of key cost components and margin build up.

Good attention to detail, able to interpret detailed technical specifications and contractual requirements.

Quality focus, commercial and legal awareness.

Strong interpersonal and team working skills.

Job Responsibilities

Provides leadership to managers and professional staff & act as the main communications link between HMH Operations team in MENA and manage all the processes.

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Engineering Discipline or relevant discipline (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 15 years of relevant experience)

Experience: Minimum 10 years of relevant professional level experience. Minimum 5 years of management experience and leading organizations

Skills and Abilities: Ability to persuade managers and leaders to take action and/or negotiate with external partners/ vendors/customers. Possesses knowledge of global contract administration practices. Excellent verbal communication skills. Ability to take initiative and be accountable for own decisions and actions. Ability to focus on and bring to conclusion to multiple tasks.
