What's on your plate:

Commercial transactions with external parties

    Review all contractual agreements and assess potential legal implications which need to be brought to management attention
    Negotiate, review and draft documentation for business transactions whenever required.
    Coordinate with Central legal/Local lawyers upon required.
    support in research, preliminary/final drafting, and initial negotiation of simple/complex legal documents on varied issues of Corporate Law, Compliance, Contracts, Corporate Governance and International Law.

Legal Advice:

    Coordinate with relevant departments to identify potential legal risks and related courses of actions.
    Provide legal advices when it required like investments, M&As, tax and legal restructurings, post-merger integrations, disposals, liquidations, conversions, capital increases etc. with supporting in local laws research for post of such transaction.

IP and Local Laws Compliance

    Manage trademarks registration process and provide required updates with the IP firms.
    Identify business areas that needs to be in compliance with regulatory across all countries
    Formulate compliance check-lists whenever applicable
    Continuously monitor compliance with regulatory and advise management accordingly.
    Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for executive management on compliance with regulations.

Litigations & Governmental Bodies Management

    Assist in providing advice on litigation risks to decision makers across the company.
    Assign local law firms for any conduct litigation case/investigation.
    Support local lawyers in providing the needed evidence/documents upon request.
    Present the company in front of any governmental bodies upon request.
    Monitor litigation case and follow up with assigned local law firm.

 Job Description:

Directs, coordinates and supervises the activities of the Legal Affairs Department engaged in general legal activities, tendering and administration of all contracts, as well as all KAC insurance activities. Includes, advising Management on corporate legal rights and obligations, participating in contract negotiations to ensure proper documentation, contract and agreement accuracy, arranging for insuring all corporate properties, assets, liabilities and personnel, examining specific problems for general management and providing appropriate legal advice.

    Tasks and Duties :

    Supervises the activities of assigned personnel in the Legal Department. Performs supervisory duties and exercises financial authority at the level established by Management for the position.
    Develops KAC policies on contract and insurance procedures and identifies types of coverage for Management approval. Supervises and directs the preparation of contracts and insurance policies, negotiation of claims and provision of other legal services.
    Provides advice to Management on formulation of contractual and insurance terms and conditions, as applicable, for international as well as local contracting .
    Provides advice to department directors on contracts, including interpretation of KAC policies in this respect. Includes, reviewing contract agreements drafts to ensure compliance with related Kuwaiti and international regulations, and KAC legal rights.
    Supervises, checks and prepares call for tenders, contracts, amendments, etc., and personally attends or delegates subordinates to attend Tender Committee meetings.
    Advises on all matters involving litigation. Includes, reviewing and approving case briefs, participating in legal and quasi-legal proceedings and supervising legal representation in all aspects of litigation.
    Exercises general supervision over insurance activities to ensure coverage of all KAC risks and liabilities. Includes, participating in premium and contract provisions with local insurance and re-insurance companies, inspecting important accidents and recommending claim settlements on ex-gratia basis.


Requirement:

    Law Degree from a recognized university.
    15 years' experience in general law practice of which at least 6 years are in a senior supervisory position in legal and insurance activities preferably with an airline business.


Skills:

    Very good knowledge of English and Arabic.
