The Director of The Future School plays a pivotal role in bringing our vision of future-ready, enterprise-focused education to life — empowering students to dream big, think differently, and shape their futures with confidence.
This is an exciting opportunity for a forward-thinking leader who is passionate about innovation, entrepreneurship, and real-world learning. You will design and lead inspiring programmes that help students develop the skills, mindset, and pathways needed for success in employment, self-employment, or enterprise.
Key Responsibilities:
Programme Leadership
- Design, deliver, and evaluate dynamic enterprise and employability programmes aligned with the school’s strategic vision.
- Lead flagship initiatives, including:
- Enterprise & Employability Week
- Student Careers Fair
- Future School Work Experience
- Embed entrepreneurial learning across the curriculum, enrichment, and co-curricular activities.
- Line manage the Careers Lead to ensure alignment between career education and enterprise goals.
- Review and refine programmes annually to ensure continued innovation, relevance, and impact.
Mentoring & Student Development
- Provide 1:1 and group mentoring for students exploring start-up ventures or self-employment pathways.
- Support students to develop key soft skills — communication, creativity, confidence, and problem-solving.
- Track progress through individual enterprise portfolios and personalised coaching goals.
Community Partnerships & Sponsorship
- Build meaningful partnerships with entrepreneurs, incubators, universities, and local or international businesses.
- Create authentic learning opportunities such as visits, panels, projects, and internships.
- Secure sponsorships to support enterprise initiatives and student projects.
- Establish an active alumni network to provide mentoring, talks, and work-related experiences.
Parent & Stakeholder Engagement
- Lead parent engagement through workshops, newsletters, and briefings on enterprise and future skills pathways.
- Ensure parents and students understand programme goals and future opportunities.
- Collaborate with SLT and staff to integrate enterprise education across all aspects of school life.
Marketing & Promotion
- Champion The Future School’s vision through events, campaigns, and social media.
- Celebrate student success stories across GEMS4Life, internal platforms, and wider media.
- Collaborate with marketing teams to showcase innovation and attract external partnerships.
Programme Outcomes
- Every eligible student has access to enterprise or work-related learning opportunities each year.
- Student-led businesses, projects, and enterprise portfolios are developed, tracked, and celebrated.
About You
- Proven experience in enterprise education, youth entrepreneurship, or future skills development.
- Qualification in business, education, or enterprise leadership (or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of innovation, mentoring, and start-up culture.
- Experience working with partners, sponsors, and community stakeholders.
- Knowledge of global employment trends and the future of work.
- Confident communicator and inspiring leader with a proactive, creative, and solutions-focused mindset.
- Highly organised, collaborative, and passionate about helping young people achieve their full potential.

GEMS Metropole School, located in Motor City in Dubai, opened its doors in September 2014 and has continued to flourish and grow in student number and stature. The school is now open to students from FS1 to Year 13 with an all-through school capacity of 4200 students offering the National Curriculum for England.
The school has become well-known for their key areas of success, such as a strong community approach to education, highly inclusive school support to strong secondary options at Key Stage 4 and academic and vocational choices at Key Stage 5. In addition, the school has well-equipped classrooms, a highly competitive sports department, a farm, digital media rooms, innovation laboratories, dedicated science labs, music, art rooms and libraries.
Most recently the school has completely overhauled its digital strategy to lay the foundations to further its position as a leader in associated technologies in the region, focusing on the use of technology to a. enhance the learning experience of our students through experiential learning through the use of AR and AI technology b. improve feedback and communication between the student/teacher and teacher/parent and c. help reduce staff time and workload, helping to improve teacher wellbeing and reduce burnout.
Students from our Foundation Stage classes have access to attractive indoor and outdoor learning areas to explore and investigate, high quality Information Technology provision and Science provision to develop IT and Science-based literacy, and most recently a language hub to support key language skills across school.
In the Primary section, with the use of 1:1 technologies, students and teachers use iPads and interactive whiteboards to enhance learning opportunities where appropriate. The Secondary school continues to develop and grow and has seen the LEAD and skills programme blossom supporting students to make informed decisions and develop their learning and leadership skills. A new focus of personalised pathways is supporting students in their preparation for life after school and their journey towards success. In conclusion, GEMS Metropole School is a member of the British Schools of the Middle East (BSME) with the School Principal as a BSME Country Rep. This allows both teachers and students alike to continue to grow and develop with the rich traditions of the National Curriculum offerings and align itself with ‘like schools’ across the region and overseas.
