Connectivity Project Consultant

JOB PURPOSE:
Lead the execution & management of key digital programs, including coordination with key internal partners and working with global dealers & customers for delivering overall program results.
This is a global role focused on execution of global programs in Europe, Africa, Middle East and Asia Pacific region excluding CHINA.
JOB DUTIES:
The Project Consultant is seen as the industry/project expert in areas of connectivity & technology and must possess deep technical subject knowledge in addition to proven industry and/or specific program expertise.
Responsible to manage the programs in several countries annual and be the key resource in delivering specific projects in support of the overall goals of aftermarket connectivity division.
Programs include 2G/3G Obsolescence, Connectivity APIs, Country Certifications & evaluating competitor OEM offerings in the aftermarket.
These projects generally are the most complex in nature, high profile, and present considerable risk to customers.
Dealers rely heavily on the incumbent to consult regarding setting and meeting specific objectives related to the project.
The incumbent will also help and support the connectivity Compliance & Regulatory team by working on a connectivity solution that complies with the local regulations in countries in EAME and ensures proper communication is sent out to internal and external partners.
This capability is only attained through experience and previous delivery of a wide variety of projects. While working closely with dealers/customers in support of the marketing objectives, the incumbent is often seen as an individual contributor.
Must proactively keep up to date on changing end-user needs for the specific industry and stay current with new technologies and methods to deliver the marketing message in a cost-effective manner. Where necessary, the incumbent must be proficient in the use of industry tools & processes (project management software, etc.) to deliver innovative programs.
Capability to employ 6 Sigma processes in project work is beneficial.
The incumbent is a significant consultative resource to management in defining mid-term strategic direction for the delivery of the division’s services.
This position could be assigned short-term international projects, requiring the incumbent to possess the necessary cultural and communication skills to work with a diverse set of internal and external contacts.
The cross-business unit project nature requires the incumbent to manage multiple dealer/industry needs simultaneously.
Project complexity requires the incumbent to work with an expanded set of internal service providers including Industry Groups, DSD Organizations, IC&S, Public Affairs, Global Purchasing, etc.
BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:
The position requires strong project management skills.
It also requires knowledge of various Caterpillar products, product applications or merchandising programs.
Personal computer skills and familiarity with various software packages is required.
The position typically requires a college or university degree or equivalent experience.
In addition, five to seven years of Caterpillar work experience is typically required.
2-3 years of working experience in digital/technology/connectivity is preferred.
Relevant University Degree
Good human relations skills are required to develop a collaborative work relationship with others inside and outside the department, as well as being able to adapt to a variety of different cultures.
Flexibility in work time due to the global nature of role and different time zones is required for this position.
