Job Role:
The Chemical Plant Engineer implements and analyzes the processes, machinery, and equipment for producing various chemicals. He is responsible for working with other engineers to improve or develop new industrial strategies to enhance the efficiency of the plant. The role requires a wealth of technical and industry knowledge that allows the Chemical Plant Engineer to improvise when necessary and to solve any production issues quickly and competently.
Job Responsibilities:
– Supervise plant operations and workforce.
– Schedule and coordinate production work to meet tight deadlines and ensure plant operations are within the financial budget.
– Investigate and troubleshoot plant process issues and challenges.
– Collect data required to develop process improvement and modifications and test new processes for efficiency.
– Figure out the best production methods for the plant resulting in optimum productivity while eliminating wastage.
– Recommend purchase of machinery and equipment and coordinate with project engineers and specialists for installation.
– Ensure machinery and equipment work to their specification and appropriate capacities.
– Assess safety and environmental concerns.
– Maintain safe working conditions and compliance with health and safety legislation.
– Provide clear production guidelines and training to the workforce to maximize their performance.
– Modify/Create SOPs that conform to ISO international standards.
– Liaison with concerned government agencies and industry regulatory bodies to obtain and renew required certifications for the factory.
– Overseeing construction of new plant.
Job Requirements:
– Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering preferred; MBA will be an added advantage.
– Adept knowledge in Health, Safety & Environment regulations for chemical plant operations. NEBOSH or equivalent certification.
– Proficiency in oral and written communication in English. Knowledge in Arabic language is an advantage.
– 3+ years of experience in chemical plant manufacturing for the oil and gas industry.
– Must have the ability and technical knowledge necessary to create technical process recommendations, performance reports, and recaps.
– Ability to work under high pressure and result oriented.
– Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with senior leaders and workforce alike.
– Good organizational skills and ability to put together technical presentations.
– Ability to work in a multi-task, high paced environment, be self-directed and motivated, able to prioritize responsibilities, coordinate on-going projects, provide precise attention to detail.
– Must be able to work well independently and with groups and field operations.
