Special Educational Needs Coordinator
The British International School Abu Dhabi is looking to appoint an outstanding SENCO to join a well-established, supportive team in a highly successful and expanding school.
About You
You will be a teacher who is passionate about their profession and seeks continuous improvement. You will have a positive mindset and will always do your very best for students, for parents and for colleagues. You will have strong experience of the UK national curriculum; further experience of international education will be an added advantage. You will also have experience managing strategic development of special educational needs policy and provision in schools.
You will be an excellent communicator who will work well with all members of the community. You will have a strong focus on being the best teacher you can be and will also participate fully in the extra-curricular aspects of school life. You will also be responsible for encouraging and developing further our culture of inspiration, enjoyment and success. Keen to collaborate and share your expertise, you will have good interpersonal skills and the ability and confidence to build strong working relationships. The flexibility and open-mindedness required to adapt quickly to a fast-paced international environment are essential.
About the Role
The SENCO will have a strategic overview of provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs across our Primary School. He or she will provide guidance to colleagues on teaching pupils with SEN as well as promoting an ethos and culture that supports the school’s SEN policy and promotes good outcomes for pupils with SEN or a disability.
Our school follows the English national curriculum to IGCSE and the IB Diploma Programme post-16. Classroom resources are plentiful and expectations are high for achievement for all students. Building and maintaining positive relationships with parents is essential and is a key part of maximising student progress.
