Senior HSQE Manager (Facilities Management / Engineering)

Your Opportunity  

We are looking for a Senior HSQE Manager who will be responsible for providing Health, Safety, Quality, Environment (HSQE) and Assurance guidance to the business unit and our clients. Support the Senior Management Team and operational teams in ensuring HSQE and Assurance compliance across the contract. Act as the competent person in relation to Health and Safety, including fire and life safety and provide independent assessment of compliance through internal compliance assurance reviews and external auditing, certification assessments.

 

The ideal candidate should have the ability to motivate and manage others. Self-motivated and able to work to deadlines Has excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

 

This role is part of our management team and works very closely with our clients at the prestigious Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA).

 

Key Accountabilities (Key elements of the job, avoid repetition) 

Responsible for all aspects of Safety Assurance which includes Health, Safety & Environment, Risk Management, Quality Management, and Business Resilience and Business Ethics.

Ensure compliance with the Serco Management System relative policy standards and advise management and operational employees on these requirements, systems and processes. Identify improvement opportunities and manage issues to an acceptable outcome.

Contribute to the development and maintenance of the Integrated Management System (IMS) develop, review and update processes and procedures and ensure evidence of compliance is maintained including records.

Contribute to the management system legal register, ensuring that country specific legislation and codes of practice are understood and complied with accordingly. Ensure evidence of compliance is maintained.

Contribute to the development of the Divisional Safety and Assurance objectives and action plans and ensure understanding and delivery of these across the Portfolio. Report on progress regularly to the Portfolio and Sector management team.

Ensure Safety Assurance performance data is captured, reported into Assure database in a timely manner and periodically presented to management, recommending areas for improvement.

Undertake compliance assurance reviews on the IMS to ensure compliance and document evidence of continual improvement supporting the ISO certifications for contracts where applicable.

 

Specific Requirements (What we are looking for in our candidates) 

10 years of minimum experience in Facilities Management environment.

Undertaken a Lead Auditor role.

Developed short internal training courses and a training matrix for HSQE.

Knowledge of MEP systems and maintenance operations.

Certified Lean Six Sigma Yellow / Green / Black Belt preferred.

Solid understanding of ISO 9001, 14001 and ISO 45001. An ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 Auditor.

Holder of a degree level qualification or NEBOSH Diploma or similar OSH qualification.

Holder of a First Aid Certificate.

Holder of NEBOSH certificate in Environmental Management or similar.

Business Continuity Management (BIA/BCP)

Primary objectives

Contribute to excellent client service and perform fee-earning work under supervision.

Make an effective contribution to the firm’s work by aiming to meet and exceed target hours.

Build on legal and commercial knowledge in chosen practice area.

Begin cultivating relationships with current client contacts where possible and in some instances, be a direct point of contact.

Key responsibilities

Advising on a range of transactions across multiple sectors, with an increased focus on transactional work in the Energy and Infrastructure sectors. Within infrastructure, digital infrastructure is becoming prominent for us. 

Being involved in M&A, joint ventures, investments (including venture capital transactions and pre-IPO capital raisings) and reorganisations 

Leading on certain aspects of transactions, assisting and supervising associates, the firm’s ALT team and trainees

Building relationships with clients, identifying and acting on opportunities

Plan, prioritise and delegate work tasks as appropriate and update supervising team member on progress.

Build client relationships - provide excellent client service and prompt responses and progress updates to the client.

Support the firm and others - build effective relationships with individuals and groups in and across offices; uphold the firm’s values; and assist with the preparation of legal precedents, legal articles, marketing documents and presentations.

Comply with risk requirements, firm policies and all relevant professional responsibilities and legislation.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications, skills and experience 

Qualified/admitted legal practitioner in a common law jurisdiction

Excellent academics

3 - 6 years' PQE, however we are open to considering candidates with more or less experience

Demonstrable experience of supporting/leading on corporate M&A and joint venture matters

Experience in Energy and Infrastructure sectors is also desirable 

Experience of acting on complex cross-border M&A

Strong foundation legal skills, including drafting, writing, negotiation and project management.

Familiar with law firm profitability and key drivers for financial efficiency.

Ability and drive to work on bespoke, big-ticket and complicated transactions

A strong interest in the energy, real estate and infrastructure sectors, including:

Digital infrastructure;

Power and Renewables; and

Oil & Gas

Uber’s acquisition of Careem was the biggest ever technology acquisition in the Middle East and won M&A deal of the year at the 2020 IFLR Middle East awards. The team has also worked on other significant transactions such as:

a Saudi giga project on various large scale joint ventures;

Zain Group and TASC Towers on the merger of their tower portfolios with Ooredoo's tower portfolio to create the largest independent mobile tower company in MENA;

the sale by Uber of a majority stake in Careem’s Super App through the creation of a separate entity, Careem Technologies to Etisalat (E&); 

e& enterprise, part of e& (formerly known as Etisalat Group, a UAE-based global technology and investment group), on its joint venture with Bespin Global;

Marubeni Global Pharma on its agreement to acquire a minority stake in Lunatus Marketing & Consulting; and

RWE Energy Transition Investments, an investment vehicle of one of the largest renewable energy companies in the world – RWE Supply & Trading GmbH, on its investment into Ryse Energy.

Our newest opportunity is for a talented Senior Site Sustainability Engineer to join our award-winning team based in Abu Dhabi, UAE. This position will provide technical sustainability support during construction. 

Responsibilities

We envisage success in this role to include:

Coordinating with ADM Estidama and assist with all aspects of submission, site audits, etc.

Reviewing reports, material submittals, and method statements to ensure sustainable deliverables and targets.

Coordinating and participate in meetings with clients, authorities, and contractors.

Achieving all times sustainability technical compliance and provide support as a subject-matter-expert.

Coordinating with KEO Sustainability teams and other divisions focusing on both punctuality and quality.

Qualifications

To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envision that your career journey to date will include 10 years’ experience partnered with a B.Eng/B.Tech Degree in relevant field.

 

ESTIDAMA PQP is a mandatory requirement. LEED AP, WELL AP etc. are also desirable.

 

Potential candidates will have the below job specific competencies:

PQP with previous proven experience during  Construction stages of projects within Abu Dhabi.

Full knowledge of the Estidama Submission process and required documents and have worked on projects which achieved high Estidama Pearl ratings.

Excellent skills in narrative writing for supporting highly rated sustainability projects.
