About the role

 

Responsible for managing compliance under Direct Taxes, Indirect Taxes, Corporate Laws and Transfer Pricing regulations for entire network of Qatar Airways, including international tax planning and compliance in cost effective and timely manner.

Some responsibilities of the role include:

 

    Oversee tax & corporate operational compliances across QR network through robust planning and monitoring of compliance activities.
    Responsible for overall planning and delivery of QR tax compliance in the State of Qatar.
    Responsible to legally minimize operational tax liabilities through informed application of tax laws and regulations across QR network.
    Support the Tax Strategy & Planning Team on potential tax opportunities/positions for further research and risk assessment.
    Establish appropriate processes and system to ensure efficient and effective management of tax operations.
    Provide internal advisory services and support on operational matters pertaining to tax & corporate compliance across the Group.
    Support the Tax Strategy & Planning Team to undertake tax & corporate compliance review initiatives at HO and outstations

Qualifications

About you

 

With a Degree:      

    Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent with Minimum 6 years of job-related experience

OR

Qatari Nationals:

    Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent without prior experience

Essential

    Relevant University qualification in Accounting / Commerce / Finance at minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent
    Professional accounting certificate i.e. CA/ICWA/CS/ACCA
    Minimum 4 years relevant experience in Big4 or large corporate with international tax exposure

Preferred

    Minimum 2 years’ experience in airlines

 

Job Specific Skills:

Essential

    Sound understanding of tax principles governing compliance of Direct Taxes and Indirect Tax laws
    Able to correctly interpret the provisions of tax laws to comply with the provision of law
    Understanding of provisions relating to computation of taxable income, assessment and appeal procedures
    Should have attended and executed Income Tax assessments/Sales Tax/Service Tax assessment until conclusions
    Understanding of DTAA’s is a must to ensure effective utilisation of tax reliefs granted as per DTAA’s.
    Knowledge of Transfer Pricing regulation shall be added advantage
    Managerial skills - Ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow. Strong mentoring and coaching skills. Ability to train and develop subordinate's skills. Ability to foster teamwork among team members.

About the role:

As Public Relations Specialist, you will be responsible for helping us achieve this ambition:

    You will ensure positive communication of the airport is addressed to media, airport's stakeholders, and local community by implementing the communication strategy, and assessing PR deliverables throughout the execution of PR campaigns objectives, plans, procedures and practices, and makes appropriate changes if needed.
    Communicating HIA messaging to public through targeted media by drafting and distributing press releases, managing press conferences for spokespersons, and facilitating interviews with publications.
    Builds community relations that lead generate mutual positive news on the airport's social responsibility with charities, schools, institutions, and relevant organizations.
    Maintaining smooth synergy of communication between the airport and its stakeholders, by having regular meetings and updates for management leading to potential positive joint stories.
    Manage logistics and assist at public relations events, including stakeholder (airlines, charities, schools, Qatar Museum) and industry (Airport Council International) events.
    Support the larger Corporate Communications team with writing and translating press releases, speeches, editorials.
    Help coordinate press events and conferences in Doha and overseas by having up-to-date media lists, and strong media relations that will lead to quality and quantity media coverage.
    Work within a crisis environment by fulfilling the requirement of the role pre-assigned when responding to crisis.
    Assist with the media enquiries and communication  agencies by keeping records of previously  circulated company's spokespersons Q&A's and ability to have initial evaluation  based on desk research

Qualifications

About you:

    Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent with Minimum 5 years of job-related experience.
    Working experience in PR Agency, Media firm or Communication Department of Corporate companies
    Excellent English written skills, Arabic will be a plus
    Qualification Mass Communication or Journalism  - must
    Experience in drafting press releases, media releases and speeches

Primary Job Purpose:

Job Requirements:

    Degree/Professional qualifications or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Tax
    At least 8 years of working experience specializing in general and tax accounting
    Knowledge of income tax, withholding tax (WHT), deferred tax and GST/VAT returns
    Team player with ability to work people across functions, culture and from all levels within the organizations
    Knowledge on US GAAP would be a plus
    Experience in financial reporting and processes (AR, AP, Fixed assets, GL reporting)
