The Role

Join Draken Europe’s Flight Operations Team as an Operations Controller for our operations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This is an exciting, demanding, fast paced role where you will need to be responsive, balanced and make responsible decisions.

What You’ll Do

The Operations Controller will receive initial training at a Draken operational base in the UK and will then deploy full-time to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the duration of their employment. They will:

• Facilitate the effective delivery of the flying programme for all Flight Operations in KSA under the guidance of the Ops Control Leadership Team.
• Coordinate all of Draken Europe’s Operations activities at their respective base, including deployed operations.
• Conduct legal and compliant Aircrew and Aircraft Rostering.

• Build strong working relationships and effectively communicates with the various customer Points of Contact (internal and external) to ensure safe and compliant delivery of contracted services.
• Is the initial focal point for emergency response and undertake any immediate actions as required by the company Emergency Response Plan.
• Undertake out of hours callout for aircraft detached from the MOB (additional remuneration).

Key Deliverables

• Accurate weekly flying programme creation and publication, a monthly forward look, and incorporate Semi-Annual Plan into the planning framework.
• Support weekly planning meetings with accurate data and forecasts
• Maintain and make available an accurate picture of FTL, Duty Hours, qualification status, crew leave, training requirements, currency expiries.
• Forecast and enable planning of all operational requirements to ensure they do not expire
• Initiate Detachment Planning Process and support detachment planning meetings and Site surveys
• Flag operational delivery issues sufficiently early to the local management team and the local operational leadership team with options and mitigations.

What You Bring

Experience and Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years experience within an aviaition environment. (Essential.Military Environment Desireable)
• Strong academic achievement, typically higher education standard (A-Level) or equivalent (essential).
• Knowledge of civilian and military aviation rules and regulations (essential).
• SC clearance (essential)
• Knowledge of flight planning software, crew planning and rostering systems (desirable).
• Exposure to both military and commercial aviation sectors (desirable).
• Experience of managing and controlling mulitple resources within a dynamic and fluid environment.
• Have a proven record of managing change (desireable)
Knowledge and experience of working/operating in the Middle East (desirable)


• Skills and Behaviours

• Highly numerate and able to demonstrate good analytical skills.
• Self-starting and motivated individual with a high level of interpersonal skills.
• Strong IT literacy and is a capable user of Microsoft Office Suite, with particular experience with MS Word/Excel/Powerpoint.
• Works on own initiative, requiring minimal guidance from their Manager.
• Continually and pro-actively seeks new ways of working to improve overall business performance.
• Possess effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences.
• High level of energy and self motivation, often working under pressure and to tight deadlines.
• Needs to be articulate and have the ability to build credible trusting relationships with internal and external customers.
• Be receptive and understand the differences in culture of the Middle East
