Role Purpose:
The role will be primarily responsible for the day-to-day implementation of Majid Al Futtaim Shopping Malls’ sustainability strategy in particular Net Positive commitment, working with internal stakeholders.
Play a part in shaping the Group’s very ambitious net positive commitment and act as a champion for various initiatives within Shopping Malls. The Sustainability Manager, Shopping Malls will be responsible for coordinating delivery of Shopping Malls’ contribution to the Group Net Positive commitment and supporting the various sustainability champions and stakeholders in progressing their targets.
The Sustainability Manager, Shopping Malls must be analytical and detail oriented, yet capable of thinking strategically and managing the relationship with the Shopping Malls Operations and MAF Holding Sustainability teams.
Details – Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Influence and identify the Sustainability strategy of the organization, by supporting and driving optimal solutions to manage and forecast Sustainability initiatives and results
Coordinate the implementation of the Majid Al Futtaim Shopping Malls’ sustainability strategy and associated policies through the network of sustainability managers and champions within Majid Al Futtaim Group.
Develop budgets and timeframes for Sustainability changes to support company objectives
Responsible for Calculating and Pitching Potential Value of initiatives
Foster an environment that embodies Majid Al Futtaim core values
Guarantee reporting is done in a timely manner, both Management reporting (updates on sustainability activity/Net Positive initiatives) to Operational Reporting (SBTI, environmental performance data, etc)
Maintain awareness of current legislation and market best practice relating to sustainability and environmental compliance.
Contribute to the modernization and innovation agenda of Property Management, having a Sustainability focus in place.
Recommend management actions to ensure statutory and industry obligations are met and that a market leading approach is sustained.
Create a roadmap for SMBU operation to ensure achievement of SBTi annual targets and provide input for reporting back to the investors
Ensure the implementation planning and execution updates quarterly on SBTI initiatives such as energy retrofit, water efficiency, carbon reduction and onsite/offsite renewable energy implementations projects as required to furnish the SBTI taskforce template.
Manage the environmental performance data on SOFI and relevant evidence to the assurance folder to achieve 100% data assurance approval by 3rd party consultant (both qualitative and quantitative).
Provide input and represent SMBU in different committees such as Green Star, Refurbishment, green building, etc
Manage and embed the Sustainability Change Management and Learning Program for Shopping Malls community
Personal Characteristics and Required Background:
Skillset (job specific technical skills)
Technical sustainability skills e.g. green buildings, carbon management, health, and wellbeing
Strong project management skills to manage program of work with internal and external partners
Good communication skills in writing and in person to engage staff internally
Analytical and advanced Excel skills
Minimum experience
Minimum of seven years’ experience in a sustainability related role in a corporate organization or consultancy
Knowledge of the real estate industry and the built environment
Minimum Qualifications/education
A post-graduate degree in a sustainability or real estate related discipline e.g. environmental sciences, geography, architecture, engineering
Certified sustainability related professional e.g. LEED AP or WELL certified
