Summary
ISG Jubail seeks a dynamic and inspiring IB Biology and General Science teacher with a passion for engaging students in constructing their own understanding of science, guided by the NGSS standards and the IBDP framework. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to a well-rounded and flexible program that promotes interdisciplinary connections, literacy, inquiry-based learning, and authentic, real-world experiences. Instruction will be guided by the IB Diploma Programme framework and NGSS standards, encouraging students to become critical thinkers, effective communicators, and compassionate global citizens.
The successful candidate will be passionate about supporting students in the middle and high school years, understanding their unique developmental needs and aspirations, and will contribute actively to the broader ISG Jubail community beyond the classroom. The ideal candidate would be eager to engage in collaboration around our mission: We inspire innovation and compassionate action.
Position Duties
The successful candidate will be able to effectively:
- Demonstrate commitment to the safety and security of children and young people (child protection).

- Plan and deliver engaging, inquiry-based lessons aligned with the IB DP Biology course and the ISG General Science curriculum.
- Foster students’ understanding of global issues, environmental sustainability, and cultural diversity.
- Integrate Approaches to Teaching and Learning (ATL) skills into classroom practice to develop research, thinking, communication, and self-management.
- Communicate and collaborate in a professional manner.
- Commit to continual professional learning.
- Plan meaningful assessment opportunities.
- Drive learning through assessment and feedback.
- Reflect on assessment goals and targets.
- Plan and deliver effective and meaningful learning opportunities.
- Know and respond to the needs of all students.
- Promote agency and innovation in the learning process.
- Foster compassion and build relationships amongst all the ISG community.
- Exhibit effective and positive classroom management.
- Contribute to student growth and collaboration.
- Contribute to the after-school activities program and to the wider ISG Jubail community.
- Effectively assess and report on student academic achievement and learning dispositions.
- Espouse creativity and passion in and out of the classroom.
Specifically with regards to Biology and High School Science, the successful candidate will be able to effectively:
- Deliver IB Biology instruction according to IBDP course guide and principles of best practices.
- Scaffold student construction of their own understanding of scientific concepts.
- Create an environment where students passionately exercise agency in pursuing science.
- Develop and foster interdisciplinary connections to the learning of science.
- Be a champion for high school students, high school learning, and the high school program.
- Contribute to the creation and revision of the science curriculum.
- Share interests and passions with students through the after-school program.
QUALIFICATIONS AND KNOWLEDGE
The candidate must have:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related field of study.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Deep pedagogical content knowledge in science.
- Current certification/licensure to teach science.
- An advanced degree in a related field of study.
- Knowledge of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
- Knowledge of Understanding by Design (UbD) principles.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience
- Teaching science at the high school level in an international context.
- Previous IB Biology teaching experience, or at an equivalent level.
- Leading and inspiring students to be informed and inspired community members and leaders.
- Organizing student projects and performance tasks.
- Designing interdisciplinary units of inquiry.
- Documenting curriculum according to Understanding by Design (UbD) principles.
- Designing programs based on the NGSS Standards.
- Collaborating in a professional setting with large and small groups of colleagues.
- Leading groups of students and faculty.
Skills
- Positive and compassionate outlook.
- Open-mindedness and flexibility.
- A proactive approach and ability to take initiative.
- Desire to engage in meaningful collaboration.
