 Kennedys is looking for a Senior Associate to join our Corporate, Projects and Commercial team based in Dubai. Kennedys is building a new team that will service the regional client base of the firm throughout the Middle East and Africa. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing, global law firm.

This role will operate as the senior associate support to one of our partners and will involve a broad spectrum of transactional work across not only the GCC but also the broader middle east region and African countries

Team

Kennedys' Dubai based team will consist of specialist lawyers who advise on a wide range of commercial, projects and corporate services covering a broad spectrum including corporate, employment, property, major infrastructure projects, construction, international litigation and arbitration. We support our clients with commercial contracts, data protection, cyber-security, IP/IT, e-commerce, procurement, state aid and competition.

Clients vary and can be large regional and international corporate entities, banks, large scale infrastructure project sponsors, government organisations, large regional family offices.

Required experience

  •  5+ years' Qualified Solicitor with experience in the areas of infrastructure and development projects, corporate merger and acquisitions, and commercial transactional and advisory work gained in the GCC. *
  •  The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience in the handling of "front end" multi jurisdiction corporate structuring for infrastructure projects, concession drafting and negotiation, construction agreements, project support documentation, plus shareholder agreements and SPAs.
  •  Experience of working with large regional family offices and their varied needs for legal support is desirable but not essential
  •  Experience of running own transactions and client relationships and receiving instructions directly from clients
  •  Previous client contact and attendance at business development events
  •  A willingness to be part of a new team based out of Dubai, building an exciting regionally focused non-contentious offering as part of a broader team within a global and dynamic law firm
  •  Arabic language skills is desirable but not essential.

SPARK Facility Project Manager - Construction, Emerson, KSA

 Overall Purpose of the Role

 

 

The Project Manager has the overall responsibility for the execution of the construction of Emerson’s New Manufacturing Facility project at SPARK in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This includes facilitating business continuity in the project through a complete understanding of the business requirements including design, layout, machinery integration, facility approval, certification, registration in Government and Customer systems. 

 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Create, Align, modify strategies for execution of Emerson’s New Manufacturing Facility project at SPARK project, reporting on progress to all stakeholders
  • Select and evaluate consultants / vendors of projects as per set criteria, budget and guidelines
  • Driving project scope & requirement including engineering, design, layout, procurement, construction, plant commissioning, IT (Hardware & Software), ERP Systems, resources, including overall cost, schedule, quality, and plant performance associated with the project assigned.
  • Overall management of all aspects of the project performed by Emerson, including work done within BUs / Operations and their consolidation plan, shifting, approvals, quality plans etc.
  • Assurance of driving HSE requirements including HSE Reviews, certification, and specification.
  • Organize and lead communication and update meetings with all stakeholders, and project team to address any risk/issues
  • Develop control guidelines, processes, instructions, and templates to facilitate management of projects and disseminate to all stakeholders
  • Capex / Spend approvals and monitoring – Capex / Assets – identification of machineries, equipment, project costs. Managing monthly, quarterly, and annual spend commitments with continuous tracking of financial aspects of the project ensuring completeness within approved budget and timelines
  • Implement governance standards across the project and programs, including tracking, monitoring and updating the status of the project’s deliverables.
  • Managing Local nuances / Various Government & Non-Govt. agencies. Tackling and addressing any concerns from Localities as well as various involved Govt / Non-Govt. authorities
  • Ensuring pre-scope project plan is communicated to all BUs/stakeholders together with their individual responsibilities.
  • Track progress & Evaluate performance of consultants/vendors of projects against terms and conditions for the achievement of successful results
  • Interface with SPARK & Saudi Aramco management team for required approvals.
  • Preparing and presenting project reports and presentations for internal and external clients.
  • Ensure Quality Assurance in all duties and all works performed.
  • Compliance Monitoring for the new site - Consent to Establish, Consent to Operate, Fire NOC, Factory License, Occupancy Certificate etc.- Application with appropriate document within the given timeframe and obtaining the various licenses as mentioned above from them without red flags. Closing any audit points preapprovals before handover to the business
  • Creating a safety culture within area of responsibility to ensure all work is completed in accordance with Emerson health and safety policies.
  • Ensure integration of sustainability principles in all inputs and outputs of the projects.
  • Accountability for review of unique execution strategies and decision-making processes to address these situations. Lead the internal and/or external problem-solving necessary to arrive at appropriate decisions
  • Manage and maintain relationships/ communication with consultants/ vendors to ensure that the most appropriate and efficient equipment/tools/methods/services are used with optimal cost to ensure successful delivery

Job Purpose:

Responsible for the allocation, movement & supervision of plant, equipment, material, labour & operatives.   • Ensures health and safety of the site and worker.
  • Ensures required housekeeping to enable efficient working
  • Checks and controls the quality of ongoing and completed works.
  • Carries out level and survey work in conjunction with the land surveyor
  • Plans and prepares material / equipment arrangement for the following days to enable efficient working.
  • Arranges daily production reports. As part of the 'DAP' process and monitor outputs.
  • Allocates of plant, material & labour as per productivity norms for optimal utilization. Distribution of work between labours to optimize output. Resources productivity issues.
  • Assists in forecasting requirement of Labour, Material & Plant/Machinery.
  • Is aware of the content of Tool box talks, monitors and correct them where required.
  • Mentors, teaches and develops labour for skill improvement.
  • Complies with all applicable Management Systems (Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental, etc.,) in his area.
