Business Development Manager (ENEC), Nawah Energy Company, Abu Dhabi, UAE

Job Description

Support the Enterprise leadership in establishing the Business Development framework and lead the development of the Enterprise Business development strategies and plan execution in line with the Enterprise long-term Strategic Direction towards achieving the intended Business Development strategic outcomes. This role is key for delivering on the extended mandate for ENEC Enterprise beyond the JV setup and the BNPP 4 units. Moreover, this role is responsible for managing integrated and stage-gated ‘Concept-to-market’ Process, conducting Market Research and preparing reports on the commercial potential and application of future growth opportunities.  In addition, this role enables the enterprise to scout for new partnerships, promote Enterprise interests and secure deals while developing the required Brand Development and Marketing strategies across the broader nuclear UAE ecosystem. Additionally, this role is also responsible for developing detailed commercialization plans for future growth opportunities aiming to maximize shareholders’ returns.

Enterprise Business Development Framework and Strategy Execution

Responsibility: 

  • Lead and manage the development, execution and monitoring activities of ENEC Enterprise Business Development framework and Strategy to the best quality standard, includes:
    • Stakeholder interviews including Shareholders, Executives and BoD members
    • Data gathering and Inputs Analysis (Program Waves, Roadmap for Operation, Enterprise Surveys, Energy Sector Reports, Strategic Performance and Initiatives progress and BID outlook amongst others)
    • Research analysis PESTLE, SWOT (Including assimilation of Risks based on the Risk management team inputs)
    • Scenario planning (Focus question, generation of drivers, building scenarios, storyboarding, stress testing key considerations & strategic options for business development strategies)
  • Lead developing and executing ENEC Enterprise Business Development framework and Strategy communication plan to ensure proper awareness of the Enterprise pipeline of future growth opportunities and the strategy to commercialize them.
  • Lead establishing and maintaining the Business Development governance process at all levels of the organization: ENEC Enterprise, ENEC entity, Functional and divisional levels, to ensure efficiency and effectiveness

Business Development ‘Concept-to-market’ Process

Responsibility: 

  • Establish and execute an integrated stage-gated ‘Concept-to-market’ Process to support the systematic implementation of the approved Enterprise Business Development framework and strategy.
  • Establish Intellectual Property Registration Process and draft provisional patent applications applying an understanding of UAE patent/IPs law and facilitate activities associated with establishing and maintaining the Enterprise Intellectual Property (IP) protection including, liaising with Legal departments and other external entities.
  • Review and identify gaps in existing BD roadmap, structure, processes, and ability to commercialize knowledge products and IPs
  • Identify the Enterprise incubation business opportunities with techno-commercial feasibility studies, as required
  • Validate and strengthen Business and Financial Model and a detailed plan for commercialization
  • Monitor and report on the progress status of growth opportunities across the enterprise future growth opportunities pipeline while effectively managing risk at all stages
  • Work on different models for opportunities including investments, mergers & acquisitions, partnerships, etc.
  • Prepare and present to leadership/board different commercial/financial model options for undertaking opportunities, obtain consensus/approvals and plan for execution
  • Build project teams to execute opportunities
  • Oversee the execution cycle and present different stage reports to leadership/board

Market Research

Responsibility:

  • Conduct Market Research and prepare reports on the commercial potential and application of business growth opportunities.
  • Scout for new partnerships, promote Enterprise interests and secure deals
  • Research new inventions and applications for nuclear technologies

Marketing and Communication

Responsibility:

  • Establish Business development marketing and communication strategy with leadership & broader nuclear UAE ecosystem.
  • Develop Brand Development and Marketing Collaterals
  • Support the promotion and marketing of commercially viable developments to public and private sector partners and potential customers

Business Development Risk Management

Responsibility:

  • Manage risks associated with exploring future growth opportunities including the risk identification, define and implement risk handling strategies to ensure maintaining risk exposure within the agreed Risk Tolerance and Appetite (RT&A) while aiming for capturing the intended commercial benefits.
  • Review and analyze risk information to identify emerging risks, update Business Development risk inventory and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor risk information for all business development opportunities at different stage of development and report to relevant stakeholders accordingly
  • Continuously review Risk Assessment for pursued business growth opportunities and update mitigation plans as necessary  

Skills

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Engineering
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in Business development
  • 5 years of experience in the Power & utility industry

Preferred:

  • Master’s Degree in Strategy, MBA
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in business Development with 3 years in the nuclear industry
